How the Dow Jones industrial average fared on Thursday

U.S. stocks ended slightly lower on Thursday after a day of mostly listless trading as investors weighed a mixed slate of corporate earnings and outlooks. Health care stocks were among the biggest decliners after UnitedHealth Group cut its full-year earnings forecast. Payments company Square and online dating site operator Match Group soared in their market debuts.

For Thursday:

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 4.41 points, or 0.02 percent, to 17,732.75.

The S&P 500 index slipped 2.34 points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,081.24.

The Nasdaq composite index lost 1.56 points, or 0.03 percent, to 5,073.64.

For the week:

The Dow is up 487.51 points, or 2.8 percent.

The S&P is up 58.20 points, or 2.9 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 145.76 points, or 3 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is down 90.32 points, or 0.5 percent.

The S&P is up 22.34 points, or 1.1 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 337.58 points, or 7.1 percent.
